A call to loving action - part 2

Updated: Mar 23, 2021

Every so often there's an uprising or trigger that brings unjust themes that exist in society to the surface for those who don't directly experience the prejudice themselves.

Usually these triggers cause an overwhelming emotional reaction internally, which in turn triggers some kind of action to soothe the guilt, outrage, sadness, ... that arose.

It could be reading a book, or watching a few documentaries, posting your thoughts, or starting a few uncomfortable discussions. But then once that initial soothing is over, once the uprising has calmed and is dropped by the news. Or maybe when you get used to the fact that it exists. Then life goes back to normal. Your life at least. Maybe you feel, what else could you possibly do?

Every so often, I witness this regarding anti-racism. It comes and goes for some. But for BIPOC it's always there.

When there was a call in 2020 to #dothework, some people did. And some people soothed themselves and then moved on feeling that they did all they could.

The invite to #dothework is for everyone because this is everyone's problem. Not just a problem that exists for BIPOC.

Everything in life is feedback. This is an invite to take that feedback and go into your shadow.

Do the work. Go into your cells, into your blood, into the bones.

If you aren't sure what that means, then I invite you to watch the follow up video I made about working with your shadow when facing yourself on anti-racism below.

In case you missed it, you can check my Call to Loving Action here.

And if you want more to explore, here is a whole page of Anti-racism resources for you. It gives you an opportunity to start educating yourself with tools, articles, discussions, and resources to help you #dothework.
