What does Embodiment actually mean?

Updated: Dec 23, 2022

Hello friends,

Around 7 years ago I created a weekly class called Embodied Flow. It was a 1-hour journey into the deep body. To awaken an inner connection and communication of the sensations within the body. It has grown and transformed as a body journey over the years but the essence remains the same. I so loved those sessions but it always came with questions as to what embodiment actually meant.

Since that time, it has become a buzzword. I see it popping up all over the place and for good reason. Most people nod their head in understanding when they hear it and then asks what it means to live an embodied life, or how to embody their present moment of life. So here I am sharing my experience of it, what I perceive and why I believe it to be the most important part of healing. This is how it is so closely connected to the body of work that I have created.

In the dictionary it is defined as:

Embodiment

ɪmˈbɒdɪm(ə)nt, ɛmˈbɒdɪm(ə)nt/

  • a tangible or visible form of an idea, quality, or feeling.

  • the representation or expression of something in a tangible or visible form.

In my work I usually explore the inner expression of this, and how it is to experience embodiment through body language.

I'm curious if this episode resonates. I would love to hear how you experience this, or what feels different in your body and life. You can watch or listen to it below:
